Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum

  Last Saturday, Andrew and I headed to the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum along with our lovely friends, Zak and Faye. It’s a really neat place, divided into a few large buildings. There’s one building devoted to planes, aviation, and guns, another devoted to space exploration and helicopters, and one more with an Imax theater. There’s also….an indoor waterpark! It has a Boeing 747 on top of the building, with water slides coming out of the exit doors. We decided to save the waterpark for another day, as we spent most of the day exploring the museums.

   I was pretty impressed by the museum. We spend hours exploring, admiring big shiny flying machines and interacting with exhibits (space shuttle landing simulation video game? Yay!) I’m already looking forward to checking out the waterpark sometime this summer and wandering around the space museum again. If you live in Oregon, you should definitely take a little trip to McMinnville and check it out!

Outfit- Suspenders

Today has been a much-needed day off from work.  I’ve been getting some errands done and preparing to throw a birthday party tomorrow for my best friend ever, miss Stacey Sawyer. We were planning on doing a bbq and disc golf at Horning’s Hideout, but the ever-fickle Oregon weather decided this would be a good week for rainy weather and cold winds. So alas, we’ll be having an awesome shindig in my apartment with fun games, tacos, delicious drinks, and good company! I’m really looking forward to it!

I’ve been into suspenders lately. They’re usually somewhat hard to pull off with my errr… curves, but I’ve found that they work well with high-waisted skirts. I actually got these suspenders from my mom. She likes to mail me packages (on holiday or random times of the year) chock-full of food, goodies, jewelry, and the most random items you can think of. These suspenders were in one of the most recent packages!
This is one of my favorite Threadless shirts. I like anything that combines something cute/sweet with dark/morbid. A nuclear apocalypse adorned by cute birds and pretty flowers? Perfect.

Camera Shopping!

So I'm in the market for a new camera and I have a bit of money saved up. I'm pretty positive I want a Canon, mostly because that's what I'm used to, and I tend to like the design/interface of their cameras. I've been comparing cameras all day, and it gets a bit overwhelming. Here's what I've narrowed it down to:

Canon SX40 HS

$350

Canon PowerShot SX260 HS

$300

Canon EOS Rebel T3

$500

Does anyone have any experience with these or similar cameras? I've been using a Canon Powershot SD870 IS. It's treated me well, but it's been through a lot. It's definitely time for an upgrade. I want to stay under $500, but still get a quality camera. I like the idea of digital SLR cameras (like the Rebel above), but they're much more expensive and I don't have any experience with them. I need a camera that will work great in low-light (the thing I hate most about my current camera is how poor the pictures look unless I use flash or have sunlight.) I also need a camera to have a great macro setting, as I take lots of up-close shots of jewelry for my etsy shop. If anyone has any recommendations or advice, I'd appreciate it lots!

This is what I wore to Crafty Wonderland! After roaming around the fair for a couple hours, Rachele and I went outside and took outfit pics together! It’s always nice having another living human being taking your pictures rather than the tripod that I’m used to! Rachele did an awesome post about both of our outfits, check it out!

It was lots of fun meeting Rachele and taking pictures together! I’m also a bit jealous of her super nice camera. It makes me realize how badly I need a new one! Time to do some research and save some monies!

Crafty Wonderland!

On Saturday, I met up with the lovely Rachele of The Nearsighted Owl. She’s just as wonderful in real life as she is on the internet! It was the first time I’ve met one of my blogger friends in real life, and it was really fun! We walked around admiring all the lovely handmade goods. There’s always so much to look at/touch/taste at craft fairs like Crafty Wonderland!
 
We were even lucky enough to get the goodie bags given to the first 200 people in the door. Rachele was #199 and I was #200! Super lucky!

Outfit- Sunny Shopping with Stacey

Yesterday was a lovely, sunny day! It feels like summer here is taking its sweet, sweet time getting here. It’s so frustrating! Though it does make me really appreciate when we do have a nice day. 

Stacey and I spent most of yesterday shopping (and eating delicious food). We’re pretty skilled at both of those things.

It was not quite warm enough to go out without cardigans. I’m so ready for warm weather! Enough of this long sleeve business.

We put teal streaks in Stacey’s hair this weekend. I love how the color turned out!

It’s hilarious how much of mine and Stacey’s wardrobes came from Plato’s Closet. Super cheap clothes right across the street from my house? It makes sense.

Estate Sale!

Yesterday, me and Andrew happened upon an awesome Estate Sale. It was in a big house, full of books, dolls, floral pictures, collector’s plates, and figurines. So, of course I found lots of goodies! Aren’t those little dogs adorable? I’m in love with the little schnauzer. He’s actually an old Avon perfume bottle. His head twists off!

I’ve been into oval picture frames lately. These are lovely.I couldn’t resist this cute owl family.A pile of ribbon and bows!A pair of red velvet elbow-length gloves!

I got all these things and a couple others for just eleven bucks! I’m thinking I’ll be seeking out some more estate sales this summer. They’re much better than garage sales!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Today I just happened to ship my first ever order to Mexico!  I'm really glad that I made the choice to start offering international shipping for my shop. It's so amazing to know that there's a handful of people across the globe wearing something I created with my bare hands. Since I started offering international shipping, I've had quite a few orders from the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and now Mexico! This is all very exciting for me!
